Getzner Textil AG new year's reception 2020
On Thursday, 23 January 2020, the apprentice team of Vorarlberg-based family business Getzner Textil extended an invitation to its traditional Apprentices New Year’s Reception. In the course of the sociable evening, the numerous guests, which also included the families of the apprentices, enjoyed a multi-course menu which the future textile experts had prepared themselves.
In order to fittingly celebrate the end of their successful 2019 apprenticeship year and at the same time raise their glasses to the new; numerous guests met on the long-established textile company’s premises in Bludenz last Thursday for its annual New Year’s Reception. The parents of the young adults also attended and used the relaxed atmosphere to talk to the vocational trainers. The motivated young apprentices came up with an unusual idea to mark the occasion: they captured the hearts – and palates – of the invited guests with a five-course menu prepared especially for the event under the guidance of Gordana Podgorac, Chef de Cuisine at Schlosshotel Dörflinger. After an inspiring lecture by Susanne Larisch, the Getzner Textil AG occupational psychologist, the evening’s successful programme was completed with a performance by the former talent show “Starmania” candidate Falco Luneau. The singer-songwriter with Dutch roots has been a firm element of the Austrian music scene for many years.
“Apprentices came up with everything themselves”
However, Perrine Getzner, the head of Getzner Textil AG’s vocational training department, revealed that the young adults did not only primarily focus on the culinary aspects when they were trying to come up with ideas for the event: “From the shopping list to keeping within the budget and creating the finished menu, our apprentices dealt with all of the associated tasks themselves and also prepared the dishes on the evening. It’s a good way to illustrate to them how to approach complex projects and tasks that individuals often find difficult to grasp due to the numerous aspects and interfaces that need to be taken into account. This approach helps them to develop a logical structured process which they can then apply in their professional as well as well as private lives.”
