History meets the future

We’re writing history

Curiosity is what drives us

For 200 years, companies around the world have relied on high-quality textiles from Getzner. We have always strived to take on the challenges of the present and seek out the opportunities that the future offers us in order to use them for our further development.

Rooted in tradition

The family business Getzner, Mutter & Cie. was founded in 1818 by Christian Getzner, Franz Xaver Mutter and Andreas Gassner. In the following year it was possible to open the first red dye works in western Austria as well as the first machine spinning mill in Feldkirch.
In 1820, the company already employed 3,000 home workers for spinning and weaving in the Bludenz district. The municipal bleaching plant in Bludenz was taken over by Christian Getzner and his co-partners in 1827. This milestone was crucial for the establishment of the Bludenz business location.

Further development of Getzner Textil AG

Numerous additional company foundations in the following decades as well as the early development of foreign markets are of great importance for the internationality of the company today. In 1980, the textile division of Getzner, Mutter & Cie. spun off as an independent public limited company.
Today, Getzner Textil AG is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of clothing damasks, fashion fabrics and technical textiles. Getzner, Mutter & Cie., Getzner Textil AG and Getzner Werkstoffe celebrated their 200th anniversary in 2018.
