Resource-saving production

Responsible Use of Resources

Resource-efficient operations are a key element of textile production at Getzner. Through modern technologies, efficient processes, and the targeted circular use of energy, water, and materials, valuable resources are conserved. Our key areas of focus are decarbonisation and the circular economy.

Our measures

100 per cent renewable electricity at all Austrian sites
70 per cent reduction in fresh caustic soda requirements through caustic recovery
Expansion of photovoltaic capacity
Feed-in of surplus waste heat into the local district heating network
Continuous increase in heat recovery through process optimisation
Reduction of fossil fuel consumption
Wastewater flue gas neutralisation to reduce emissions
Feeding electricity from our own hydropower into the regional grid

Systematic Energy Management

At our main site in Bludenz, certification in accordance with ISO 50001 forms the foundation of our energy management system. Through systematic monitoring and regular audits, we identify potential savings at an early stage and implement targeted improvements.

Water Management

Water is an essential component of many production steps at the Bludenz site, from yarn dyeing and weaving to finishing. As we operate within a designated water protection area, we handle this resource with particular care. Process water and drinking water are supplied through two of our own well systems, allowing us to conserve external water sources while ensuring consistently high water quality.

Measures at the Bludenz site

Continous monitoring of water consumption
Multiple reuse of part of the process water
Pre-treatment of partial wastewater streams before discharge into the municipal wastewater treatment plant
Use of an oxidative process to reduce organic loads

Circular Economy

Circular economy is a key focus area for the Getzner Textil Group. Our efforts are centred on the circularity of our processes: material, water and auxiliary resource flows are managed to keep resources in use for as long as possible. This includes the recovery of caustic soda, the reuse of process water and a structured waste management approach.

We also integrate circular design principles into product development and continuously evaluate alternative material solutions, including yarns with recycled content as well as bio-based and recycled polyamides.

Key Figures

Detailed figures on energy, water, district heating and more are summarised in our Sustainability Brochure. The brochure provides insights into measurable results and the progress we have achieved.
