For many years now, the locally based beekeeper „Ländle Imker“ has fought for the continued survival of bees. He intends to make an active contribution to the conservation of the region‘s biodiversity through the distribution of strong and healthy honeybee colonies. An important and future-oriented project which Getzner Textil is only too happy to support. Without further ado, bee hives were installed on the company‘s own flower meadow to offer these important insects a safe haven.
Zero carbon mobility
For many years, Getzner Textil has also implemented important measures in the area of employee transport in order to further raise the workforce‘s environmental and sustainability awareness. These include, for example, providing public transport season tickets (rail and
bus) as well as company bicycles and lucrative incentives for zero carbon commuting (within the scope of its „EcoPoints“ initiative).
„Seaqual“: Joint effort against ocean plastics
With the production of a 100 percent recyclable polyester fabric that has been woven largely from „Seaqual“ yarn, Getzner Technics is declaring war on ocean plastics and is once again setting a powerful example for the benefit of the environment. For example, one of these fabrics, which are all produced regionally here at our Bludenz headquarters, contains up to 80 percent of Seaqual polyester (PES, which is
manufactured from ocean plastics) that has been blended with a PES-based elastic fibre and is therefore fully recyclable.
We are already solving tomorrow‘s problems today
Getzner Textil demonstrates sustainability as an element of the corporate culture and has been working on the continuous reduction of its heat, water and energy consumption for years. On the one hand, this can be achieved by using the latest technologies, and on the other, through the ongoing modernisation and upgrading of already existing plant and equipment. Austria‘s climate protection initiative „klimaaktiv“ has already recognised the company‘s outstanding efforts in this respect several times.
Electricity generated by its own hydropower plant, long distance heating for the region
Getzner is one of Austria‘s pioneers in the area of power generation and power supply. Its own power station now encompasses four active power plants that cover the entire electricity consumption of all Getzner companies. In 2001, Getzner Textil AG also started to operate its own long distance heating network. Ever since, it has supplied heat to numerous public buildings in the immediate vicinity of the company‘s headquarters as well as the indoor and outdoor swimming pools of the local leisure centre Val Blu.
