„It´s a match“
Sailing, hunting, skiing, biking, ... when Jonas Bemetz lists his hobbies, you might think his day has more than 24 hours. ‘I'm not made for lying down,’ admits the chemical engineering graduate. He has been working as team leader of the development centre at Getzner Textil for a year now - and is just the man for the job.
Rarely does an employer's product diversity coincide with an employee's hobbies as it does at Getzner Textil and Jonas Bemetz. When looking for a partner, you would say: It's a match. And it also ‘clicked’ when Jonas was looking for a job when he moved from Munich back to Vorarlberg over a year ago. ‘What immediately grabbed me at Getzner was the variety of products,’ explains the 34-year-old. They combine his passion for chemistry and innovation with his hobbies - such as outdoor and sports clothing or spinnakers for sailing.
‘In the development centre, we coordinate and manage development projects such as the possibilities of the circular economy in the textile industry,’ explains Jonas. ‘We recently achieved our first successes in recycling weaving waste with our subsidiary TFE: Polyester waste is turned into yarn from which the original product can be produced again.’ In addition to sustainability, innovation, energy issues, networking, patent law and development work are also on the agenda. ‘No two days are the same,’ explains Jonas and adds: ’At Getzner, we have many employees with many years of experience and a lot of expertise. I look forward to learning something new every day,‘ Jonas’ view of textiles has changed significantly.
