yarn woven or piece-dyed, made from extra-long staple premium Pima cotton or smart blends – as all of you know, our world-wide customers have put their trust in the fashion fabrics produced by Getzner Textil for decades already. Thanks to the certification of our entire production or manufacturing process, our family business has been awarded the Bluesign and “Made in Green by OEKO-TEX” labels – evidence of our clear and purposeful commitment to the environment and sustainability, as well as to our site.

“No other manufacturer offers sustainability at this level”

“To ensure this, we are gradually meticulously examining all of our processes and everyday procedures with a critical eye: How is the energy generated? Where does the water come from? What chemicals are used?”, explains Gerhard Leitner, head of the Getzner Textil business unit Shirting: “No other manufacturer offers sustainability at this level.” Not only the Swiss police force – with currently around 10,000 uniformed officers – relies on the reliable and high quality of our fashion fabrics for its shirts, which are also particularly comfortable to wear thanks to the fabric’s outstanding moisture absorption and significantly improved moisture transfer properties. Woven from particularly fine, extra-long staple Pima cotton, the fabrics we produce for police use leave nothing to be desired even in extreme situations and also offer guaranteed comfort.”

Top-quality responsibly grown cotton

“The fibre length is a decisive cotton quality parameter. Extra-long staple seed cotton feels soft and velvety to the touch – the fibres are extremely fine yet of a strong substance. It takes longer to grow and is therefore more vulnerable to threats posed by unavoidable environmental influences such as long periods of rain, for example. For this reason, Pima cotton (name of an ELS-type cotton species) is grown in the extremely dry sections of the cotton belt countries,” says Hannes Drolle, the head of Getzner Textil AG’s Yarn and Textiles Sourcing department. Our company only uses extra-long staple Pima cotton grown in the USA, Israel and Egypt, and can therefore use only around 0.75 percent of the raw cotton produced world-wide. Getzner Textil holds a “Supima” license and also a “Cotton Leads” certificate – please refer to the web links for more information about both.

Maybe you are now wondering why we use extra-long staple cotton for our premium products? The benefits are obvious:  This cotton type is not only outstanding due to its particularly smooth, non-pilling surface but is also exceptionally durable and colour-fast. This makes our high-quality textiles feel much softer – even after quite a long time.

To conclude, we once again wish you all the best and good luck in these difficult times. We hope that we will soon be able to visit and advise you in person again; until then, we are, of course, always there for you by digital means. Stay healthy!
